Desacralization – Terra Santa



Fin dalla sua nascita, ogni religione che si rispetti ha sempre mantenuto uno stretto collegamento con i suoi luoghi sacri. Anche se con il tempo i mezzi di trasporto sono molto cambiati, i pellegrini perseguono ancora lo stesso medesimo fine da centinaia di anni: abbandonano per un certo periodo i proprio affetti, il proprio lavoro, i propri pensieri abituali alla ricerca di un collegamento diretto con il sacro, sia per venerazione, penitenza o fondamento del proprio credo. Oggigiorno però, grazie alla diminuzione dei costi, dei tempi e dei rischi connessi, il pellegrinaggio si vede spesso intrecciato al turismo di massa, anche a causa di una progressiva desacralizzazione delle culture occidentali.
Questo reportage fotografico fa parte di un progetto a lungo termine proprio su questo fenomeno sociale. Analizza e distingue gli atteggiamenti e le motivazioni che portano persone appartenenti a culture anche molto diverse a ritrovarsi a pregare nello stesso luogo. Il tutto inserito in una grande e rumorosa cornice turistica.
